Sun Salutations

Sun Salutations and greetings.

Each morning my dogs wake with great enthusiasm to greet the day.  Having no tail, their butts wiggle: they are the OG twerkers.  Really, it’s a full body activity.  Moving their hips and shaking their haunches in a low squatting stance.   After this quick cardio it is followed by a trot to the backyard for a sun salutation and weather check.

Ever mindful of their breakfast they start the kitchen inspection.

Could a scrumptious morsel from a midnight stack have landed on the floor?  A full kitchen floor scan is needed.  This is their way to tell mom it’s time to prepare the precious niblets with a scoop of yogurt a drop of Dream Coat and a shot of CBD in their favorite bowls. They work as a team, doing maneuvers preformed only by trained acrobats around mom’s legs.  Like trained performance artists, the dogs wait at the mat for the bowls to be placed.  Their ability to wait is unmatched by any animal.  They quiver in a well known position waiting to hear the magic word…”okay” and breakfast is enjoyed.

Next comes the hooman inspection.

The dogs take this analysis very seriously, making sure everything and everyone is just as they left them the night before.  All heads and hands need to be accounted for since these fingers are important.  As such the dogs cycle through each family member with strategic timing looking for belly-rubs and head scratches. The dogs know this time is short and soon the hoomans will mysteriously disappear.

So with a full tummy, the house secured and bellies rubbed, the dogs settle down for a long morning nap.  Can their little tummies make it till dinner?  Will the noisy bird outside awaken them from slumber?   Could the “ding” of the door bell trigger the running of the bullies? Could the pesky cat invade their space causing chaos?

Only time will tell…
